Rome sightseeing

Rome hotels

There is almost too much to do and see in Rome.   You should make a list of the things that you absolutely MUST see, and work those things into your day.   There are so many historical sites and museums that it is virtually impossible to see all of them - even in a week.

By wandering around, you can find fountains that are hidden and underappreciated by the locals.   I also found a few markets where vendors were selling clothes, jewelry and other items one would find in a flea market.   Do not be afraid to negotiate.   You show that you are a tourist by just paying the full price that is initially offered.   Even if it seems reasonable, try to play the game and get a better price.

If you are looking for the perfect gift for the person who has it all, check out the stores outside the Vatican.   There are lollypops in the shape of the Pope.   I bought a beer bottle opener with a picture of Pope John Paul II on one side and the Vatican on the other.   You can get more traditional items as well, such as a rosary.

And what is more impressive than a postcard from the world’s smallest country?   The Vatican has their own post office.   Mail drop boxes are very visible when inside the walls.
